Eye pain and vision problems can be both scary and inconvenient, particularly if they happen while you’re traveling and you’re not sure where the nearest eye doctor is. That’s why proper eye care is especially important when you’re on the go. In today’s article, Nova Vision Center shares eye care tips for traveling.
Don’t Ignore Vision Symptoms
You shouldn’t ignore changes in your vision just because you don’t feel pain. Even symptoms that don’t seem serious like blurred vision, flashes and increased eye floaters could indicate a serious eye condition. Vision symptoms can also indicate other health problems like diabetes, a hypertensive crisis and even a stroke. Go to a local eye doctor as soon as possible and get your eyes and vision checked.
Always Bring Backups
You should always bring at least two pairs of eyeglasses or sets of contact lenses when traveling. Losing your glasses or contacts during a trip is frustrating to say the least, so you should always have backups on hand. If you wear contact lenses, don’t forget to pack plenty of cleaning solution.
Prepare for Dry Eyes
Many people experience dry eyes on airplanes. If you are going to sleep on a flight, make sure to take out your contacts and store them in your contact lens case. You can also bring over-the-counter drops to lubricate your eyes. As a reminder, never use water to clean your contacts. Water isn’t sterile and you don’t want any microorganisms in your contact lenses.
