Our office offers the following services:

Examination of the eyes and personal consultation

We thoroughly evaluate your eye health, provide an accurate prescription and personally counsel you about the best way to meet your visual and eye health needs.

Fitting of contact lenses and contact lens problem solving, including:

  • Disposable soft lenses for all uses, including astigmatism
  • Extended wear contact lenses
  • Bifocal contact lenses
  • Monovision
  • Tinted and opaque contact lenses, including “Wild Eyes”
  • Lenses for the treatment of eye diseases, such as keratoconus
  • Gas permeable lenses and modifications

Developmental eye care for children and adults with special needs.

This examination is extremely useful for those with learning disabilities, dyslexia and multiple developmental delays. Many children (and adults) do not have the abilities necessary to see efficiently and accurately enough to be effective students. The developmental eye examination is like no other exam. We don’t ask can you see?, we ask how do you see? The answers we obtain can be extremely valuable. (link to developmental exam page)

Treatment of eye disease

All of our doctors are licensed to treat eye diseases such as glaucoma, allergic, viral or bacterial conjunctivitis, iritis, foreign bodies in the eye, eye injuries and many other eye problems.

This includes LASIK, cataract surgery, strabismus surgery, retinal detachment surgery, glaucoma surgery, corneal transplants, among others.

Prescription and dispensing of eyeglasses

Our opticians do it all! With over 70 years of experience between them, they are professionals who can provide you with the finest in classic and creative eyewear and accessories.

Education regarding vision and development

We deliver a monthly lecture in the office during the school year to assist you in understanding the common problems associated with visual development and how they may impact development of reading and academic skills. There is no fee to attend the lecture.

Nursing home, long term care facility and home care

A principal part of our mission is to make access to eye care available to all members of our community, including those who cannot come into our office. We currently visit fifteen local facilities, providing full-scope eye care.

Our doctors are available to give lectures on vision, eye diseases, current treatments and developmental vision disorders.

We also participate in a number of eye health screenings. Just call us to arrange the appropriate place and time.

Special Ophthalmic Testing:

Tonometry

The tonometer instrument uses a puff of air to measure the pressure inside your eye, which can help the doctor determine if you have glaucoma. Glaucoma is an eye disease in which the optic nerve is damaged due to high pressure in the eye.

Retinal Photography

The camera takes a picture of the most important structures in the back of the eye, the optic nerve and the macula (central part of the retina). This helps the doctor track changes in eye health over time. We like to take this picture at your first visit and periodically after that (8-10 years for healthy eyes).

Corneal Topography

The corneral topographer gives a detailed measurement of the front surface of the cornea, the clear front part of the eye. It is helpful for diagnosing certain eye diseases, keratoconus, refractive surgery (LASIK), and fitting contact lenses.

Visual Fields

This is a test of your side vision. With some eye diseases, you can develop loss of side vision, which you may not notice. The automated perimeter allows us to identify those areas. This is very helpful in diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, retinal and neurological disorders.

Optic Nerve Analysis (GDX)

The GDX Nerve Fiber Analyzer is a state of the art instrument that uses a low-powered laser to measure the optic nerve of the eye with an extremely high level of accuracy. It measures the thickness of the nerve fiber layer, which is damaged during glaucoma. This test is very helpful for diagnosing and treating diseases such as glaucoma and stroke.

Blood Pressure

We check your blood pressure because you can’t check your blood pressure often enough. It will fluctuate throughout the day, even if you are on medication. High blood pressure increases your risk of heart disease and stroke, as well as several eye diseases.
